Far Eastern Department Stores (FEDS), founded in 1967, is the longest-operating and most steadily growing department store chain in Taiwan. In 2024, FEDS received the “Retailer of the Year – National Level” award from the Federation of Asia-Pacific Retailers Associations (FAPRA), following its 2019 win for “Best Corporate Social Responsibility.” FEDS has become the only department store in Taiwan to capture both championship awards from FAPRA.

While promoting sustainable operations and innovative growth, FEDS has also expanded its retail business areas. In 2024, the company operates 12 stores across 10 cities, making it the department store company with the widest distribution of operating locations in Taiwan. Currently, FEDS’ retail system encompasses four major business formats: department stores, shopping centers, hypermarkets, and premium supermarkets, meeting consumers’ comprehensive lifestyle needs with a total of 45 operating locations in 2024.

As a benchmark in Taiwan’s listed department store industry, FEDS stays attuned to environmental changes and is committed to creating innovative department store formats that meet comprehensive consumer choices for every generation.

Starting from fourth-generation stores, FEDS has integrated “green building” concepts into store development planning to practice environmental sustainability. The company also focuses on enhancing its building structures, space design, and merchandise mix, creating distinctive themed architecture, immersive spaces, and diversified dining options. In January 2022, FEDS’ latest fifth-generation store—FEDS Zhubei—began trial operations. FEDS Zhubei has received the “Gold Level” Green Building Certification, and its experiential retail features combined with artistic landscape design have captured widespread public attention.
