Water Resource Management

Water Resource Management to Improve Water-Use Efficiency

The main water source of FEDS headquarters and branches comes from local reservoirs. In response to the water shortage crisis that may be caused by climate change, FEDS has been implementing water-saving management. In 2019, the water resource management indicators were set up, and the water efficiency of each branch has been tracked and managed every month starting since 2020, and Taoyuan Store was used as a demonstration store to introduce ISO 14046 water footprint certification, and its first water footprint inventory was completed in 2021. In 2022, FEDS further incorporated counter water usage into its control project and regularly tracked and analyzed it, hoping to effectively implement water conservation and improve water conservation through more comprehensive management. In the future, FEDS will continue to optimize water conservation management, strengthening its water-use resilience.

Water Consumption Data

In 2025, the total water consumption of all FEDS branches was 2,233 million liters; with the continued promotion of water conservation measures, overall water consumption remained at a level similar to the previous year. Water consumption per NT$1 of sales decreased by 1% compared to the previous year, reflecting that FEDS continued to effectively improve water resource efficiency amid changes in operational scale.

Comprehensive Water-Saving Measures

More than 90% of FEDS’s water consumption comes from “air-conditioning cooling water, kitchen water, and toilet water.” Considering the food safety requirements of kitchen water, FEDS has listed “air-conditioning cooling water and toilet water” as key water-saving items. FEDS has planned and implemented a range of water-saving measures to ensure effective use of water resources.

Rainwater Recycling Facility

Rainwater harvesting systems have been installed at four branches across Taiwan to utilize recycled rainwater for plant irrigation and cooling tower replenishment, with a total capacity of 3,064 kiloliters.

Execute Water-Saving Initiatives

In 2025, the Engineering Department managed water use in air-conditioning cooling towers at each branch by monitoring cooling tower water conductivity. Water consumption at counters was tracked and analyzed regularly, and dining counter staff were advised to conserve water without compromising food safety requirements. For restroom water conservation, FEDS primarily installed water-saving equipment such as faucets and toilets.
