Green Consumption

Green consumption is an environmentally friendly consumption model. FEDS is committed to reducing the environmental impact of consumption behaviors and changing the world through consumer power with our customers. We adhere to the “3R, 3E” principles of green consumption: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Economic benefits, Ecological compatibility, and Equitable practices. In 2025, we continued to implement these 6 principles in our green consumption services, working hand in hand with customers towards a sustainable green lifestyle.

FEDS is committed to practicing the “3 R, 3 E” principles of green consumption:

Reduce Packaging Resources

Shopping paper bags are one of the main sources of paper product consumption in department store operations. FEDS controls the issuance of paper bags by setting packaging usage indicators and analyzing actual demand based on transaction volumes. In 2025, the usage of shopping paper bags decreased by 136,642 bags compared to the previous year, a reduction of about 5%. For online shopping, FEDS uses original box shipping, protecting products while reducing the use of additional packaging materials.

Promoting Local Agricultural Products

FEDS leverages its channel advantages across Taiwan to promote local sustainable products. In 2025, it held a total of 46 small farmers’ markets and product exhibitions, gathering 682 booths and offering 3,592 items, allowing customers to easily purchase local agricultural products. It also helped minimize food carbon footprints and fostered a mutually beneficial situation for both production and consumption.

Using Eco-Friendly Paper Bags

FEDS’ shopping paper bags are 100% made from FSC-certified paper material, ensuring that forest resources are properly managed. The bags are printed with low-pollution eco-friendly ink and carry the reminder message “Cherish Earth’s resources, please reuse,” encouraging customers to extend the lifespan of their paper bags and promoting circular reuse.

Production of Eco-Friendly Uniforms

To protect employee health and reduce environmental impact, since 2016 FEDS has gradually transitioned its in-house staff uniforms to fabrics certified with environmental labels. In 2025, men’s suits and seasonal event polo shirts were upgraded to use materials such as recycled polyester. In 2025, 2,280 uniforms were produced and issued, an increase of about 27% compared to the previous year, bringing the cumulative total to 13,963 eco-friendly uniforms to date.

Digitalizing Consumer Services

FEDS continues to promote digital services, reducing resource use while enhancing customer convenience. Since 2020, discount vouchers, lucky-draw tickets, product vouchers, and bonus vouchers have gradually shifted from paper to electronic formats stored in the FEDS App. A cumulative 52.75 million digital vouchers have been issued, equivalent to saving approximately 10.34 million sheets of A4 paper and reducing carbon emissions by over 70.3 metric tons. FEDS also provides digital DMs and event information through the FEDS App and its official website. In 2025, the printing volume of physical DMs decreased by 462,975 copies compared to the previous year, a reduction of about 21%.

Recycling

FEDS encourages consumers to develop the habit of recycling empty cosmetic containers by regularly organizing genuine product empty bottle recycling events. Customers who participate in a recycling event can receive HAPPY GO points, cash vouchers, or eco-friendly product as gifts. In 2025, FEDS held 14 events at 8 branches, recycling over 11,750 empty bottles in total, helping to protect the planet.

Intelligent Parking

Since 2019, FEDS has been implementing a new smart parking service system, transitioning parking services towards paperless and smart system management. By 2025, more than 90% of stores had implemented the system, enabling quick entry and exit through license plate recognition and reducing vehicle waiting time. Customers can present a barcode for parking fee discounts and make direct payments via their mobile phones, enhancing the convenience of parking services at department stores.

Plastic Reduction Initiative

FEDS supports government plastic reduction policies by prohibiting single-use plastic straws and disposable tableware (cups, bowls, plates, dishes, food containers) in food court dine-in areas, helping reduce plastic waste and environmental pollution.

Green Dining Initiative

FEDS promotes sustainable dining by partnering with restaurants that prioritize food safety and environmental sustainability. We encourage food court vendors to obtain “Eco-friendly Restaurant” certification from the Ministry of Environment. In 2025, a total of 109 dining outlets at FEDS obtained the certification, representing a 21% increase from the previous year.

Electronic Invoice Initiative

Supporting government e-invoice policies, we encourage customers to use digital carriers for receipts, promoting “low-carbon, paperless” green consumption habits. In 2025, our cloud invoice adoption rate reached 72%, up 4 percentage points from the previous year and exceeding the Ministry of Finance’s 61% annual target.

Sustainable Store-Visit Gifts

In recent years, FEDS has continued to plan “sustainable store-visit gifts,” prioritizing products that are eco-friendly, reusable, or of social value to reward customers. For example, by cooperating with local farmers or social enterprises, FEDS provides organic agricultural products or local specialty goods as redemption gifts. During the 2025 anniversary sale, a total of 5,000 locally grown dragon fruits were given away, supporting local agriculture through action.

Shared Mobile Power Banks

FEDS continues to introduce e-friendly services in its stores that balance sustainability and convenience, embedding low-carbon principles in customers’ daily experiences. FEDS responds to the practical need of customers running low on phone power while shopping: in 2025, it set up a “Shared Mobile Power Bank” rental service at 8 stores (including large in-store counters), with a total of 452 power banks deployed, promoting the sustainable consumption concept of resource sharing and circular use through a “renting instead of buying” model.

Responsible Retail

FEDS’s World Gourmet section has introduced Rainforest Alliance-certified coffee, supporting forest ecosystem protection, farmers’ rights, and sustainable agriculture. In 2025, 98 kilograms were sold, bringing the total cumulative sales to 738 kilograms.
