Tainan Far Eastern Department Stores Opens for Dining, Welcoming Children with Disabilities

On November 17, 2025, “Kaifanchuan Canteen” entered the Far Eastern Department Stores Tainan Chenggong Store and invited the DeGao Elementary School Drum Troupe, which won the special prize in the Tainan Traditional Art Competition, to warm up the opening event. President Hsu of Far Eastern Department Stores specially gifted 30 backpacks to children with disabilities, and President Chen Yihang of the Feast Hotel Group also entertained these children for lunch and donated 100 meal vouchers valued at NT$500 each for families of people with disabilities who receive services from the Social Affairs Bureau.

The “Retail Employee Day (RED)” initiative of the Intercontinental Group of Department Stores (IGDS) will be launched on December 12, 2025, to recognize the professional spirit of retail industry employees and their important role in public life. As the only member company of IGDS in Taiwan, Far Eastern Department Stores, led by Nancy Hsu President, extends gratitude and blessings to all employees during their exclusive department store days.

In recent years, the retail industry has become one of the occupations with the largest employment population. According to the “Key Data Analysis of Labor Force Changes in Taiwan’s Circulation and Life Service Industry” released by the “Future Circulation R&D Center” in 2025, the wholesale and retail industry will be the top 2 industries in terms of the number of employees employed in 2024, and it will also have the highest employment rate for college graduates in the past five years (2020-2024). However, the frequent conflicts between consumers and frontline employees in the news indicate that the retail industry has a higher demand for professionalism and patience from colleagues than many other industries. In view of this, Far Eastern Department Stores hopes to convey gratitude and appreciation to all colleagues through the celebration of “Retail Employee Day RED”.

On the day of RED, Nancy Hsu President led the senior management team of Far Eastern Department Stores to record a video together, thanking all colleagues for their dedication; Store managers across Taiwan also led a group of supervisors to offer tea to employees and counter colleagues, and sent blessings symbolizing the safety and health of “Apple”. They thanked everyone for overcoming challenges in the store, serving the vast number of consumers, and sharing the joy and sense of achievement in their work. FEDS achieved outstanding results at the 2025 Global Corporate Sustainability Award (GCSA) and Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Award (TCSA), winning a total of ten awards. This accomplishment demonstrates the company’s deep commitment to sustainability governance and reinforces its leadership position in Taiwan’s department store industry. The awards FEDS received this year span multiple areas including gender equality, climate governance, creative communication, innovative growth, and workplace well-being, fully embodying FEDS’ long-term commitment to its core vision of “Sustain for a Good Life.”

In the GCSA evaluation, two of FEDS’ sustainability projects stood out, both receiving the “Best Practices Award.” The “Shaping the Future of Retail with Gender Equality and Diversity” project showcases the company’s forward-thinking approach to DEI implementation through comprehensive gender equality strategies, friendly workplace systems, and inclusive culture initiatives. The “Employee Health Up Plan: A Sustainable Workplace Wellness Initiative” focuses on employee health management and occupational safety environment optimization, creating a sustainable healthy workplace that has garnered significant industry attention. Both projects were highly recognized for their innovative and scalable approaches, serving as important examples for international exchange in Taiwan’s department store industry.

In terms of sustainability information disclosure, FEDS’ English sustainability report continues to demonstrate excellence. By comprehensively presenting ESG strategies, governance structure, risk management, and quantified performance, the report has received the GCSA “Bronze Award” for three consecutive years. This honor not only recognizes the company’s emphasis on information transparency and stakeholder communication but also highlights FEDS’ determination to align with international sustainability standards.

FEDS also performed exceptionally well in this year’s TCSA evaluation. The company was once again selected as one of the “Taiwan Top 100 Corporate Sustainability” and achieved a milestone by winning the “Innovative Growth Leader Award” for ten consecutive years, becoming the only department store enterprise to receive this honor. This demonstrates its leadership position in retail innovation, operational strategy, and sustainability integration.

In collaboration with the Kaohsiung City Government's Social Affairs Bureau, Far Eastern Department Stores organized the "Recycling Toys for Sustainability" campaign, encouraging people to give new value to old toys and value resource recycling and public welfare sharing.

The Zhubei store also held a second-hand children's book collection event, which received enthusiastic response. Far Eastern Department Stores in Kaohsiung raises rice to provide warmth and promotes recycled toys for sustainable love

Kaohsiung Far Eastern Department Stores invites customers to respond to the "Thank you! Let love shine! From July 4th to 21st, Far Eastern Department Stores in Hualien partnered with Asia Cement Corporation Ecological Park to hold the first summer "Where do insects come and where do they go" bamboo stick insect ecological exhibition, allowing the public to observe the magical techniques of bamboo stick insect mimicry and disguise up close. Far Eastern Department Stores has participated in the Asia Pacific Sustainable Expo for four consecutive years, continuously engaging in diverse and innovative dialogues with the public to demonstrate the company’s determination in sustainability development and ESG practices. This year, Far Eastern Department Stores has created an educational and interactive experiential space with the theme of “sustainable green buildings”, inviting the public to explore the future of green buildings together. The exhibition area is designed with the highlight of “energy conservation and carbon reduction”. Through the application examples of Low-E glass, solar equipment, and permeable pavement, it presents how the company reduces electricity consumption, carbon emissions, and improves water resource recycling efficiency in the operation process. This not only allows the public to better understand the value of green buildings, but also encourages the public to practice environmentally friendly actions in daily life. It was also awarded a bronze medal in the 2025 Asia Pacific and Taiwan Sustainable Action Award (APSAA/TSAA).

Since 2021, A.Mart has been promoting the “Baishatun Mama Zhongyuan Safe Box” and has donated over 10000 boxes of supplies, becoming a highly representative Zhongyuan public welfare activity. They also provide thoughtful “customer service” to help busy people easily fulfill their wishes. This year, they have donated all of their supplies to the Huashan Foundation; By combining faith culture with corporate social responsibility, extend the significance of festivals to every corner of society. Starting from September 2024, A.Mart has formed a “Tray Alliance” with Far Eastern New Century Corporation and multiple companies to promote the “Tray Reverse Smart Recycling Plan”. Not only will all branches switch to 100% rPET material for fresh trays, reducing carbon emissions by 51% per ton, but the cumulative number of recycled trays will exceed 30000; By sorting and cleaning, high-quality recycled plastic is produced, effectively reducing plastic waste and demonstrating the determination to implement environmental sustainability and brand social responsibility.

City’Super’s original intention is to create a “friendly environment” and encourage consumers to practice sustainable food practices through daily consumption. Collaborate with the DRIVE Innovation Office team of the group to develop a sustainable action architecture and model, optimizing products, processes, and services one by one, constructing a sustainable value chain from the origin to the home, and “creating perfection through circulation”. City’Super has achieved 100% traceability of fresh produce through five major action initiatives, including “friendly farming” without the use of fertilizers/pesticides, “minimal additives”, “local production”, “low-carbon vegetable food”, and the use of non disposable packaging “recycling”. They have also set up an “ESG certification seal/organic/production and sales history fresh life zone” in their stores, and continue to promote sustainable ingredients with county and city governments to help customers make responsible consumption choices. It has become a leading indicator in supermarkets.
